As part of our Land Ahoy topic, we visited Hartlepool Marina this week.
We went across the gangway into our first ship. We had to help the archaeologists work out whether a shipwreck that was found on the beach belonged to pirates or sailors. We looked through the clues of the objects that were found next to the shipwreck and discovered that it actually belong to pirates!
One of the children even had the chance to dress up as a real pirate! He showed us what a real pirate would look like.
We also went aboard the HMS Trincomalee, a real ship that was originally built in 1817. We discovered all about what life as a sailor was like and we even pretended to fire a cannon. It was so loud!
We all had a fantastic time on our visit and learned so much!
