Year 4  were introduced to their World War 1 project with a visit from That History Bloke Richard Stephenson.  We started off by being given an envelope which contained a jigsaw.  Next, we pieced it together to reveal a gravestone with the name of a soldier who had died during the first world war.  We then went on to research the soldier to discover how he had died.  We looked at a census to find out about where he was born and lived.  Through our research we discovered he had been injured during the war and had been sent home on ‘a Blighty’, only to be  killed on Saltwell Road by a runaway tram which had also killed a family called the Morrells.  We are looking forward to finding out more facts and information about this event.
