We were so lucky today to have a special visitor in our school teaching us all about The Romans.
The children learnt lots of different facts in relation to The Colosseum, gladiators, slaves, emperor’s and where Rome got its name from.
The children were shocked to find out that children did not go to proper schools! They did however, learn to read, write and do sums. They spoke and wrote in Latin on wax tablets.
There were 300,000 soldiers in the Roman army. They were the best in the world! They had excellent weapons and wore armour. The army was well organised and did a lot of practising for battle.
Other things Romans enjoyed were; chariot racing, music and sea food!
