This morning Year 3 visited Segedunum Roman Fort in Wallsend. When we investigated the story behind the painting ‘A Roman Triumph’, we found that it was a triumphal procession to celebrate a Roman General’s victory in a war or battle.
We found out about a Roman soldier’s life on a Roman Fort in Newcastle. We learnt how to march and took part in military training using shields and spears. We enjoyed kit training where we were able to see what Roman soldiers wore everyday and when going into battle… It was very funny to see Miss Sutcliffe dressed as a Roman officer! We were even lucky enough to try on some of the kit ourselves such as the helmet and the chainmail.
Overall, Year 3 had a brilliant morning!
