On 9th March Nursery enjoyed our first class trip to the Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle. We went on a big bus with seatbelts and curtains, and took lots of mams and nanas with us. When we got there, we had a look around at the paintings to see what colours and shapes we could spot in them.
Ryan dressed up as an artist and we found out all about what artists do.
Then it was our turn! We practiced drawing shapes like triangles, semi-circles, wavy lines and spirals. Then we found out how to put our four shapes together on the page to make an amazing picture of a boat on the water.
After that we made fantastic glue and stick pictures of boats with the same shapes, which are now displayed in our classroom.
Finally, we looked at a painting of a boat on a stormy day, showing lots of crashing waves, people shouting and even a dog barking and we had fun making all the noises to bring the painting to life.
We all had a great day out!
