This week in Year 1 we have been learning to tell the time. Today we decided to investigate time by asking ‘Is the oldest person the fastest?’ To find out we went into the hall in groups based on our ages. The aim was to run around each cone twice and stop the timer as quick as we could. We ran in age order and we found that age does not mean you always run fast! We had lots of fun.

Back in the classroom we looked to see how many pegs we could put in the peg board in one minute. It was quite a tricky task to do at speed and again this didn’t matter how old you were!

Finally to bring our lesson to an end we had to stand up until we thought 10 seconds, 30 seconds and 1  minute had passed. This taught us that time is very tricky to estimate and that we should use a stop watch for accuracy.
