This week in History, year four have been researching the lives of Gladiators. These ancient warriors were often famed for their gruesome battle styles and traditions. However, we focused on the full story and background of gladiators. Did you know that many gladiators were often captured and traded as slaves before being thrown in the arena? Moreover, they were often tortured and beaten during their training process. What’s more, almost 500,000 people died in the most famous of gladiator stages (the Colosseum) before the Roman games were stopped. We decided to train like gladiators before starting our diary entry and this was the outcome… A super-fun lesson!
