After our short break from school, Year 4 have returned with an enthusiasm to match last term. Our children have really shown their acting skills in RE as they depicted Jesus’ authority over the Pharisees in the Bible. Their use of drama and research into our topic of ‘authority’ resulted in a fantastic lesson last Friday, in which a number of children displayed great representation of Jesus’ command over his enemies (a side to our Lord which we do not often expect to see in the Bible).

Moreover, we have completed our first formal letters to be sent to Italy as we commence our Pen pal programme (coincidentally tying in with Mr Dunnaigan’s English progression this half-term). Our planning developed an understanding of the structure and features needed within formal letters and soon progressed into applying our skills in independently written texts. Hopefully, we’ll hear from Thiene very soon.

Finally, our science lessons have focused on the movement of sound, which led to a very interesting lesson with Miss Maxwell, where our children made some plastic cup telephones. I’m sure some of our parents can remember the fun we would have with tin cans and a length of sting but the science behind this really engaged our children. What a great way to start off our new year. Have a look at some of our photos below…
