Wow, what a fantastic day we have had at St Aidan’s!
As part of International Week, we celebrated the African culture of the Zulus by enjoying a visit from the Lions of Zululand. We began our busy day with a live performance of singing, drumming and dancing from the group. It was very noisy but the musicians and dancers were very talented and we really loved it! After that each class took part in two or three workshops across the day. Some of us learnt a Zulu dance and how to sing a traditional Zulu song whilst our older children learnt about the Zulu culture and language. Other classes were able to look closer at the Zulu artefacts and create artwork inspired by their shields and costumes. At the end of the day, we came together again as a whole school and each class shared and performed their hard work! All of the teachers were very impressed by the amount of information we had learnt and by our singing and dancing skills! I am sure that everyone at St Aidan’s will agree that today we had a thoroughly enjoyable and interesting day.
A huge thank you goes to the Lions of Zululand!
