Today in Year 2 our teachers from Shanghai came into class.
At the beginning of the lesson Grace and Yo Yo taught us a song in Chinese. We will be learning more of the song over the next few weeks.
We then learned about firecrackers. Grace and Yo Yo told us that people pray for health, safety and happiness when they make and use firecrackers during Chinese New Year. We learnt that in real life, people use bamboo sticks to hold them away from themselves so that they don’t get hurt. People are not allowed to play with firecrackers in Shanghai, but are allowed to use them in other cities. This is because they cause too much pollution. So instead, people use electrical sound to hear their firecracker crackle.
What do you think about our firecrackers?
