As part of our Art topic, ‘Local Artists, Urban Landscapes’, we visited the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art to take part in a workshop with a real working artist called Louise. We began by looking closely at and sketching landmarks on the Newcastle and Gateshead quayside such as the Tyne Bridge, Millennium Bridge and Sage. The views from the Viewing Platform in the Baltic were fantastic! Then we transferred our sketches onto foam using pencils to make a printing block. We used printing ink in different colours to make our own prints of the Quayside landmarks. Don’t they look fantastic?
