Year 6 had a wonderful morning of dance with acclaimed International Cuban dancer and choreographer, Yersin Rivas. The workshops enabled us to learn more about the culture and art forms of South America. Firstly, we were taught the Bachata, a celebratory dance from The Dominican Republic which is performed at parties and celebrations. We learnt a step by step sequence which enabled us to complete the dance, adding turns , claps ,twists and arm movements to show rhythm. Next we were taught the skills needed to dance the Salsa. The Salsa is so called because it contains a little bit of everything and has many musical influences. It is a slightly more difficult routine to learn but even Mrs Crawley had a go! Ask Year 6 to show you their moves. It is great exercise that is also lots of fun; have a go yourself sometime!
