What a fantastic afternoon we have had! Year 2 visited Chopwell Community Woodland to take part in a fun and interesting workshop about habitats. We explored the woodland looking for signs of life such as animal tracks, holes and animal waste! We discussed which animals lived in different parts of the woodland, such as underground, in the trees and in leafy litter on the ground, and how they are adapted to live in these mini-habitats. Then we really enjoyed searching for material on the woodland floor to make our own bug hotels. We filled plastic bottles with pine cones, twigs and moss to provide shelter for minibeasts during the cold winter. We are looking forward to taking these to our own Forest School later this week!
