As part of our DT topic Wartime Food, Year 2 thoroughly enjoyed baking carrot biscuits this afternoon.

Last week the children planned their wartime recipe, talking about which equipment and ingredients they would need. They then followed the recipe, weighing out the ingredients accurately, to make some delicious biscuits. We cannot wait to try them on Monday once they have cooled!

Whilst evaluating our carrot biscuits, we talked about how the recipe could be changed to make it more sustainable during wartime. Some of the children thought it would be a good idea to not use as much sugar in the recipe, with sugar being a rationed food during World War 1.
