This morning the Leading Lights led our celebration assembly about Advent. During the assembly they explained Advent is a time for hope and expectation, it is a time for waiting. Each week in the run up to Christmas a candle is lit.
The first candle is the candle of ‘Hope’ and focuses on the prophets foretelling the coming of the Saviour.
The second candle represents peace and is called the Bethlehem Candle. It is sometimes known as the Angels Candle as they said Jesus came to bring us peace.
The third candle represents ‘Joy’. Joy is like a light shining in a dark place and enlightens our lives. The Angels came down and brought joy to everyone’s lives by spreading the message that Mary was to have God’s Son.
The fourth candle symbolises ‘Love’ and guides us to know God’s love is everlasting and strong for us, always.
Our assembly ended with Mrs Steele handing our Merit certificates in front of children and parents. Thank you to everyone who was part of our assembly.
