This morning Year 3 travelled to The Baltic to take part in an Urban Art workshop.

We were introduced to Mark who is a graffiti artist and graphic designer. He showed us lots of pieces of urban art he has worked on since he was 14 years old. He then asked us if we have ever seen graffiti and what our opinion is of the artwork. He explained that urban art will be seen on album covers and posters that are advertising for hip-hop competitions, not just inside of subways. We found out that street art has more illustrations than writing and that Bansky interacts with his own artwork.

After our discussion, we sketched our writing and illustrations onto paper before choosing a colourful canvas and transferring our sketch onto it. We then used posca pens to colour in our designs.
