After our morning circuit we were very lucky and had the opportunity to hear Sally Scott, a GB pole vaulter, talk to us about her career and how she achieved this. She inspired us and talked to us about the difficulties she faced but told us to never give up as we are all capable of achieving something just a great as her. Sally grew up in Morpeth and now trains for her competitions in Gateshead. In 2009 Sally achieved 10th position in European Junior Championship and 7th position in the Aviva World Championship Trials. More recently, in 2014 Sally achieved a bronze medal the Commonwealth Games. Sally described pole vaulting and even got volunteers up to hold the pole. Two lucky children were supported by Sally to perform a pole vault which was very exciting. We feel very inspired and pleased to be supporting local athletes such as Sally to attend competitions through the sponsor money we raise. Sponsor money is due next Thursday and children will recieve gifts for the money they raise.
